Greg Davis was worried about the sprinkles at Makin’ Waves V. The Swim Kaua‘i Aquatics meet was blessed by early morning showers that Davis said would be a bother to visitors, not swimmers, from O‘ahu, Oregon and Canada who were on hand for the swim meet.
But the sprinkles couldn’t stop all those Kaua‘i Police Activities League flag football players from taking the field … George Freitas was even helping serve up the Egg McMuffins. Vicky Ramos has been low-key until Saturday’s Fund Day, Shelly and Daryl Gerardo were on hand for their son’s final day, and Mark Ozaki was concerned about the paintball exhibit.
Norberto Garcia had that well in hand, though, as Clorinda Brede even hit one of the targets.
Clorinda went from the flag football to the Kaua‘i Idol event at Kukui Grove … Raven Wood’s grandma got her a bento lunch, and Yukie DeSilva had the whole ‘ohana out for that shindig. It was definitely a media event with Dickie Chang and Ron Wiley doing their stage magic and Bruce Smalling recording everything. Outside of the farm fair, this was one of the non-surf events that even Andy Melamed showed up for. Mahalo to Lei Nakayama … those scones really hit the spot between Kukui Grove and Puhi!
Congratulations to Katie Fisher and Michael Saiz for coordinating a great Hawai‘i Healing Garden event … was nice to see Joseph Locey (how many remember the KIF track speedster?) again.
