Keola Lutz, Thomas Stern and Tyler Barton combined to hold Kailua B to just one hit as the Kawaihau Minor League All-Stars blanked Kailua B 8-0 in opening round play at the District 1 tournament on O‘ahu.
According to Kawaihau Community Little League President Bryan Aiwohi, Grant Mitchell finished 3-for-4 with 3 RBI followed by Lutz who finished 1-for-3 with an RBI. Tyrell Aipa-Rivera and Barton also pegged hits in the win, Friday.
Lutz opened on the hill for 22/3 innings, leaving after striking out four Kailua B batters. Stern came up for three innings of work, finishing the day with seven Ks. Barton closed for the final out.
With the opening day win, Kawaihau advances to take on Kailua A.
Koloa PW starts registration Tuesday
Koloa Pop Warner Association will be opening its registration for the 2007 tackle football season starting Tuesday.
Cheer signups will take place on June 19-21, and June 26-28 at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center and the Koloa Ball Park locker rooms.
Tackle football signups will take place on June 26-28. Signups will also take place on July 3, 5, 10, 12, 17, 18, and 24-26 at the same two locations.
Interested participants need to bring their birth certificate, medical card, last report card and $100 registration fee for each player.
For families with more than one child participating, registration is $100 for the first child and $50 for each additional child.
