The undefeated Mens Hanalei Soccer Club (9-0-3) won the Kauai Cup late last month, defeating team Kryptonite 5-1 at the Vidinha Stadium. The last time the club won the title was five years ago.
Hanalei dominated the first half with the first goal coming on a fast play from Leo Antunez to Eduardo Araujo. Cola Lindman assisted Antunez in another goal, bringing the score to 2-0.
Kryptonite’s Christian Mc-Keown was awarded a penalty kick but Hanalei’s Parker Blaylock got the save.
Momentum was reversed early in the second. McKeown got the team rolling with a diving header.
As the half progressed, Hanalei took back control of the game with another goal from Araujo. Hanalei’s last two goals were scored by Micah Ohlen and Tyler Tangeilder.
The team was awarded the Kauai Cup for winning the tournament and Kauai Bowl for placing first in the Kauai Mens Soccer Association.
