Filipino groups to award scholarship money

The Kaua‘i Filipino Community Council and affiliate organ-izations, including the Kaua‘i Filipino Chamber of Commerce, will be awarding over $15,000 in scholarship money to five recent graduates. Recipients are selected from the applications received by the deadline date and are based on many factors such as scholastic achievement and acceptance to college.

The six graduates matriculated from three area high schools. Scholarship funds are raised from the upcoming annual Miss Kaua‘i Filipina Pageant. This year’s pageant will be held next Saturday, June 16, at the Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention Hall. For information and tickets call 651-4472.
