Kapa‘a Middle School is accepting nominations and candidates to run for a Parent and a Community representative for its School Community Council.
The intent of the SCC is to provide a forum through which members of school communities can improve student achievement and school performance. The entity also strives to enhance the accountability of the educational system and to contribute to the education of students through a combined effort involving parents, students, staff, the Board of Education, business, and the community.
The SCC also makes recommendations to the principal on academic and financial matters. In turn, principals consult with School Community Councils on a variety of issues that affect student learning.
Participating on the SCC can be a rewarding experience to those interested in making a difference in public education. Nomination and candidate forms are available at the Kapa’a Middle School front office and submissions. The deadline for submission is April 30.
