A man was arrested for attempting to murder another man on Kapuna Road in a Waipake Kilauea subdivision on Saturday.
Benjamin Todd Beaty, 42, is accused of second-degree attempted murder.
His arrest came after emergency responders got a call around 2:15 a.m. Saturday morning about an altercation in the area.
“(The suspect) pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim,” said Mary Daubert, county spokeswoman.
The two men were acquaintances camping in separate tents, she added.
Both men, each in their 40s, were taken to Wilcox Hospital. The stab victim was airlifted to Queen’s Medical Center on O‘ahu. He is in critical condition, Daubert said.
His name is not being released. Beaty was not injured.
Beaty’s bail was set at $100,000.
