Kaua‘i High School, unseeded in the Hawaiian Airlines Boys Basketball State Championships, will make its opening bid for the Division II state title tonight against Academy of the Pacific.
The KIF champions will take to the court at Farrington High School for an 8 p.m. tipoff.
Earlier in the afternoon, Moloka‘i will face Hawai‘i Baptist at Farrington at 6 p.m. to open the state basketball championships.
In Kaimuki, Farrington will go up against Pahoa at 6 p.m., followed by McKinley taking on St. Joseph at 8 p.m.
University High School received the top seed in Division II, followed by ‘Aiea at No. 2, Kohala of the Big Island at No. 3 and Seabury Hall rounding out the seeds at No. 4.
A win against Academy of the Pacific will pit Kaua‘i against ‘Aiea in the quarterfinals Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Farrington.
A loss will put them in consolation play against the vanquished of the Moloka‘i/Hawai‘i Baptist contest.
Punahou was awarded the top seed of Division I, followed by Kaimuki at No. 2. Kamehameha Schools, Big Island gets the No. 3 seed and Kamehameha, Maui rounds out the top at No. 4.
The championship contest for both divisions will be played at the Stan Sheriff Center at the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa on Friday.
Division II title matchup tips off at 6 p.m., followed by the Division I championship tipping off at 8 p.m.
