WAIPIO, O‘AHU — The Kapa‘a High girls soccer team placed fifth in the Meadow Gold Hawai‘i State Division II Soccer tournament yesterday, defeating Christian Liberty 2-0.
Kapa‘a (9-3, 2-1 in the tournament) won with a pair of goals from senior co-captain Ka‘ala Leong, who scored both goals in the first half.
Christian Liberty (10-8, 2-2) received the sixth place finish.
Kapa‘a went into the tournament as the No. 4 seed, but was taken out of championship contention in the quarterfinal match up against Mid-Pacific. The Warriors entered the consolation round and defeated top-ranked Hawai‘i Prep to move on to the fifth place final.
