KALAHEO — Vakeesha Lagazo turned on the afterburners to finish with a game-high 14 points to lead Kaulupono to a 33-14 win over Island Heat in 12 and Under girls basketball action Monday.
Playing under the lights at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center, Lagazo got help from Krista Kali and Paige Connelly, who each chipped in 4 points in the win.
Courtney Contrades and Taylor Garcia sparked the Heat’s effort on 5-point notes and Jennifer Grady added 4 points in Game 1.
In Game 2, Mahea Hanie-Grace topped Gee’s Angels with a game-high 17 points in a 42-16 rout of Ha‘aheo.
Following Hanie-Grace, Kristle Henry and Tiore Daligcon added 7 and 6 points, respectively, as the Angels overcame a tight Ha‘aheo defense.
Machaela Rapozo paced Ha‘aheo with 8 points, followed by Nicole Kahawai and Mia Cabulisan adding 5 and 2 points, respectively.
Lacey Lucas steered the Lihu‘e Kamakazes to a 24-6 win over Wailua in Game 3. Lucas finished with 9 points, followed by Pili Chung adding 7 marks and Kawehi Louis-Diamond bringing in 6 points.
Keahau Relacion and Kele Das each finished with pairs to lead Wailua. Kekai Gonsalves and Aliyah Cummings each added a digit.
