KILAUEA — Donovan Harrison came up with 16 points and Adam Clark added a dozen to lead the Gee Unit to a 56-23 win over Wailua at the Kilauea Neighborhood Center.
Keoni Kinzie rounded out the double-digit scorers for the Gee Unit at the county’s 12 and Under boys basketball game Thursday night.
Lance Miyashiro led the Wailua effort with 16 points followed by Bryden Salvador and Gregory Jerves adding 3 points apiece.
Earlier in the evening, Gabe Diaz and Kavan Walog combined for 14 points to lead Hanakila to a 24-20 edge over the Lihu‘e Cougars.
Diaz finished with 8 points followed by Walog’s 6 points in Game 1 of three games that night.
Mikai Moranz and Grant Basquez topped the Cougars’ showing with 8 and 6 points, respectively.
Brenden Tillet came up with 9 points to lead the Lihu‘e Lakers to a 30-18 win over the Kalaheo Heat in Game 2.
Justin Bautista and Joseph Camelo added 5 and 3 points, respectively, for the Lakers.
Tystin Gummerus led the Kalaheo effort with 7 points followed by Kelson Andrade and Kalawai‘a Judd adding 5 and 4 points, respectively.
Calvin Fujita gets
fourth ace of career
Calvin Fujita of Wailua made a hole-in-one at the 14th hole, 168 yards, at Wailua Golf Course during the LPAA Golf Club’s monthly tournament.
Using a Cobra 8-iron, Fujita picked up his fourth ace in the 57 years of his golf career.
Dave Hamamura and Blaine Davis witnessed the feat.
Yacht Club opens
racing season Feb. 17
The public is invited to celebrate the opening of the Nawiliwili Yacht Club’s 2007 racing season Feb. 17.
People are welcome to view three races that will take place that day. The first race will start at 10 a.m. and the final race will start at 2 p.m.
Sailing instructions and race course maps will be available at the NYC Clubhouse prior to the first race.
People are invited to view the race from the harbor jetty wall and attend the “Love of Sailing” party at the NYC Clubhouse following the races.

Senior golf tourney planned for Feb. 17
The Kauai Seniors Golf Club hosts its first quarter golf tournament on the Wailua Golf Course on Feb. 17.
All seniors (age 55 or over) are invited to participate. February handicaps will be used to determine placement in the three flights.

Flight restrictions to stay after pitcher’s death
WASHINGTON — Flight restrictions imposed around Manhattan after New York Yankees pitcher Cory Lidle crashed his single-engine plane into an apartment tower will be made permanent, government documents indicate.
The plan for the rule change was revealed as the National Transportation Safety Board released papers Monday detailing its investigation of the Oct. 11 crash that killed Lidle and his flight instructor.
