Kaua‘i senior citizens are invited to free qi gong classes at the Qi Center, located at the Immaculate Conception School in Lihu‘e.
The classes are held every Thursday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Participants will learn various gentle exercises while sitting in their chairs.
The exercises are simple, low-stress and low-impact, helping participants to improve their overall energy and improve their immune system to increase their longevity.
The classes were sponsored in part through a donation from Friends of Hawaii Charities, an agency that services seniors and children statewide.
One of the first natural healing community centers in the country, the Qi Center, founded by Grandmaster Hong Liu, provides most of its services free to the island of Kaua‘i.
Other free services include classes on heart disease, diabetes, asthma and allergies.
The educational classes are for all ages, from children to the elderly, providing them with tools for wellness through community-based and year-round education with techniques that have been successfully used for over 5,000 years in China. More than 4,000 people from Kaua‘i have benefited from these free programs.
For more information about the free senior qi gong classes as well as other classes offered at the Qi Center, call 639-4300, or e-mail qi@hawaii.rr.com.
