County officials announced yesterday that the Wailua Homesteads Sunshine Market is suspended until further notice due to low participation by farmers.
“There is only one farmer left serving this market on a regular basis,” Beth Tokioka, director of the Office of Economic Development, said in a release from her office.
“Unfortunately, until we can generate more interest from the supplier side, we need to close the Wailua market.”
Tokioka said the county would consider re-opening the Wailua Homesteads Sunshine Market if more vendors were interested in participating in it on a continual basis.
Any farmer who would like to sign up for a stall at the Wailua Homesteads Sunshine Market should call OED at 241-6390.
