Congratulations to not only coach Darrell Borrero, but also coaches Teddy Pereira and Rory Rayno for bringing the KIF softball season to an end on a 10-inning affair! And yes, Herbie Kawamura was there to watch it, too! Hats off
Congratulations to not only coach Darrell Borrero, but also coaches Teddy Pereira and Rory Rayno for bringing the KIF softball season to an end on a 10-inning affair!
And yes, Herbie Kawamura was there to watch it, too!
Hats off to all the girls, their parents, relatives and supporters from all three high schools — it would not have been possible without everyone’s effort!
Kudos to Jori Jasper for coming through with a clutch triple when it counted, and good luck to Kaua‘i at states!
Mike Koerte, who coached with Darrell during the summer, said he’ll be there rooting.
Peter Ishibashi, Gene Padilla and Shappa Ramos did a solid job umpiring the game, despite the fact the fans, including all those Kaua‘i baseball boys, were raising the decibel level at Isenberg Park.
Meanwhile, Lei Nakayama came up with some new things for Kaua‘i Bakery. On Monday she had some mochi and a pineapple cream pie that could even work as filling between cakes. Dean said he’s already booked his Super Bowl Las Vegas trip.
On the subject of food, Marina Octavio was doing her thing at the Kaua‘i All-Girl Rodeo Sunday … it was a gorgeous day … even Raymond Duarte had a day off to enjoy watching the cowgirls against a backdrop of whales blowing and having a good time. And if you didn’t go, you missed watching Linda Antipala do a go in the 3D Barrels … Great ride, Linda!
OK, so now that softball is over, it’s off to 12 and Under girls basketball, and we’ll see Ariel Mizumoto’s parents and aunty (it’s Tammy Nakayama) at KIF paddling.
