Web design company nabs two Zeppos
• Lihu‘e-based Emagine Website Design recently won two Zeppo Awards, Distributor of the Year and People’s Choice.
The inaugural awards were put on by Empowered Internet Solutions, LLC, an O‘ahu Web solutions company, and designed to recognize and honor the pioneers of the standardized Internet platform.
As the company most active in furthering the mission of the Zeppo Network, Empowered’s parent company, through it’s distribution of the ZeppOS product on Kaua‘i, Emagine got the nod for distributor.
Emagine teamed up with Empowered about a year ago to give clients more control over their Web sites with ZeppOS, designed for use by companies and individuals with little or no technical experience.
Emagine took home the People’s Choice Award for its own Web site, www.appliedartistry.com, voted on by Pacific Edge and Hawaii Business magazine subscribers. The site was designed by Mark and Carrie Cowan.
“I support any technology that makes managing Web sites easier and more accessible to site owners,” Michelle Harrington, owner of Emagine, said in a release.
Harrington has been on Kaua‘i for more than 20 years, and recently celebrated five years in business. Her partner is Paul Reynolds.
“I believe that when you do what you love, it shows in your work and as a result business and money will just flow — that has been my experience with Emagine,” she said.
ProService Hawaii opens Lihu‘e office
• Hawai‘i’s largest Professional Employer Organization, ProService Hawaii, B.D.C., opened an office in Lihu‘e earlier this month to serve the growing needs of small businesses on the Garden Isle.
“Kaua‘i’s small business owners, in industries ranging from construction to retail to technology, are quickly discovering the significant time and cost savings created by outsourcing their employee-related administration,” Dustin Sellers, president of business development and marketing, said in a press release. “
Sellers anticipates the company’s 20-plus Kaua‘i clients to increase substantially over the next three to five years.
“Opening here was a natural step,” he said.
Headquartered in Honolulu, ProService Hawaii provides a comprehensive suite of employee administrative functions including payroll, human resource services, health benefits, workers’ compensation and 401(k) management, as well as risk management and regulatory compliance, for more than 600 local businesses representing 6,000 employees statewide, the release states.
