The Qi Center offers a free Qi Gong cooking class Wednesday, especially beneficial for those with lung conditions such as asthma, allergies, bronchitis, sinus conditions and chronic coughs.
Participants will learn to prepare easy meals and snacks using tasty, medicinal natural foods. For example, “Sweet Lung Delight” is made with Chinese red dates, white fungus and longan fruit. All ingredients have been combined according to the ancient Chinese principles of Yin and Yang, here specifically to open and balance the lung energy flowing through the body, organizers said.
The Qi Center was founded by world-renowned Qi Gong Grandmaster Hong to provide complementary healing practices and tools for wellness through year-round training, community events and research. A healer for over 35 years, he was also trained in China as a physician in western medicine. One of just a few Qi Gong Grandmasters in the United States, he is the only one with a center on Kaua‘i, where he is sharing his 5,000-year-old lineage of natural healing.
Attendance at the center is steady and has been growing, a center spokerson said. “In the three years, since its inception in 2004, 4,000 people have participated in the free events on our healing island, with numerous successes supporting the efficacy of this ancient medical art.”
