Robert Ibia, manager of the Ele‘ele McDonald’s, received the 2006 Kaua‘i Employer of the Year award on Thursday.
Lt. Gov. James Aiona recognized Ibia and nine other employers from throughout the state at the 2006 National Disability Awareness Month Luncheon last Thursday, according to a McDonald’s press release.
The employers were honored for their commitment to helping employees with disabilities achieve success in the workplace, the release stated.
Ibia has worked at McDonald’s for 26 years and has been a manager for 14 years.
“I learned that a disability does not mean a person can’t do a job, it just means doing it a little differently,” he stated in the release.
