Kaua‘i’s amateur surfing association HSF/YMCA kicks off its 2006-2007 competition season Sunday at Prince Kuhio in Poi‘pu.
Any age surfer is welcome to sign up in a dozen divisions ranging from the 11 and Under Menehune class to the Senior Grand Masters (55-64) as well as Bodyboard divisions.
The alternate date for the season-opener is Sept. 30.
The second event takes place at Pine Trees in Hanalei on Nov. 18-19 before moving to First Ditch in Kekaha for Event 3, scheduled for Jan. 13-14, 2007.
HSF Kaua‘i has been fostering competitive surfing and body boarding at the amateur level for 20 years.
By providing contests open to all ages at locations around the island, HSF has been a venue for the young people of Kaua‘i to test their surfing skills and have fun at the same time.
