Cory Arashiro isn’t the only Kaua‘i girl on the Pacific University soccer team. While checking to see how the Pacific team did Saturday, Stacy Sueoka, a senior from Koloa is another Kaua‘i soccer player who plays forward for Pacific. Cory holds down midfield as a freshman.

And, on the subject of sports, Jordon Dizon (this sounds like a Butkus Watch List log) had three solo tackles and five assisted drops during the Buffaloes’ 19-10 loss to Montana State Saturday.

Don Cataluna had to work on Labor Day since one of the Lydgate caretakers couldn’t make it. But he got to enjoy some of the Martin Rice goodies at the Democratic party picnic where JoAnn Yukimura, Jay Furfaro and Ron Kouchi were mingling with picnic-goers.

Hats off to Cesar Portugal for coordinating another successful Kaua‘i Filipino Chamber of Commerce scholarship golf tournament and congratulations to Bruce Laymon and Tad Miura, Jr. for winning the Flight A and B classes, respectively!

Russell Sugano had a hole-in-one at the Wailua GC No. 17 (par 3), but it came two days too early as he aced the hole on Saturday instead of Monday…is he buying coffee Tuesday?

Everyone is back following the long Labor Day weekend and Jolynn Uyesono is checking on where UH coach June Jones got his new-look UH cap, Nikki Lucidarme and Laurie Suganuma were firing up the grills at the KCC cafeteria and for those who want to know, fine dining moves to Wednesday and Thursday because of the Monday break, Laurie said.

OK, ‘nuff said…it’s off to see coach Bobby Kamakele and KIF volleyball in Waimea!
