Whitney Pigao had a hat trick and one, but the effort fell short, 5-4 against the Westside Soccer Chicks Saturday.
Pigao, one of the AYSO Girls Under 12 Lihu‘e Blue Flames, iced her final goal just minutes short of the final whistle on a penalty kick.
Jessie Chang, who controlled the Westside defense in the second half at the North Vidinha fields, topped the pink-shirted Westsiders with a hat trick of her own in the win.
A pair of goals from Marissa Ruiz accounted for the final math.
Pigao, who scored all four of the Lihu‘e goals, was the only one to mark their scorecard, but the coach said, “The girls all played awesome out there. They never gave up.”
AYSO soccer continues at fields around the island this weekend.
