Mel Rapozo was back from his bout with the bug and between himself and Ralph Suniga, did a great job on the microphones … how tall do you need to be to do the ground mic, Mel?
Hats off to the Kaua‘i Pop Warner Association leaders for getting off another season, and congratulations to Stupe Shimogawa for all the things he’s done for football for over 65 years! Stupe even got to referee a couple of games following the ceremony. Kylie Moniz was on hand fresh from helping at the Cop on Top event … congratulations to Jocelyn Barriga and her staff for a great job!
Congratulations, too, Kori Arashiro (mahalo to Jennifer Arashiro for this tidbit) for making the Pacific University women’s soccer team! See what kind of tidbits are waiting to be found? Likewise, thanks to Roy Asher, more congratulations to Marissa Fountain for making the Chaminade women’s soccer team. Roy said this is the first time they’re doing the sport and one of their opponents is the UH Hilo Vulcans. This all started after Emma Makepa-Foley (she’s got No. 11) made the UH soccer team … well done, girls!
Out on the Eastside, hats off to the staff and volunteers at Mahelona Hospital for that great bon dance Friday night … Josie Pablo is an amazing person for all she does for the kupuna and her husband Jaime is just as amazing … check out their bon dance T-shirt!
