All three Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation teams end preseason action this weekend.
Kaua‘i High ended its preseason schedule against Kona last night and both Waimea and Kapa‘a play tonight.
“We wanted to take a look at our players and see what we have,” Kaua‘i coach Keli‘i Morgado said. “We also like to see where the boys fit in our scheme. Sometimes it changes through certain preseason games.”
Kamehameha-Big Island takes on Kapa‘a at Vidinha Stadium tonight. The contest is preceded by a JV game between Waimea and the Warriors.
The JV scrimmage is set to begin at 4:45 p.m.; varsity action kicks off at 7:30 p.m.
“Taking a look at what we have in game situations is very important,” Kapa‘a coach Sia Salausa said.
Waimea heads off to the Big Island tonight for a matchup against Hilo.
“We’re ready for the season to begin, but preseason gives us a look at what our team can actually do in games,” Waimea coach Kyle Linoz said.
The KIF regular season begins on Sept. 8, with Waimea taking on Kapa‘a at Hanapepe Stadium.
The three-time defending KIF champion Kaua‘i High School squad opens up against Waimea on Sept. 15 at Vidinha Stadium.
