Saturday is the final day for Kaua‘i residents to experience natural Chinese healing for asthma and other lung conditions.
“For 30 years I’ve had allergies, with sneezing, itchy, watery eyes, stuffy nose and awful sinus headaches,” said Katie Beer, an annual attendee at the Qi Center event. “Since attending the Asthma Humanitarian Event two years ago, they are gone — absolutely gone.”
In addition to asthma, the event addresses allergies, bronchitis, sinus conditions and chronic coughs through natural healing
The 19th is the final day of the calendar year that corresponds to universal, planetary, personal, organic and herbal energies, states a press release from the Qi Center.
Led by Master Hong, a Qi Gong Grandmaster and healer for more than 35 years, the practices have been honed from several millennia of traditional Chinese medicine.
“After 5,000 years of empirical observation, (this body of knowledge) has discarded the cures that don’t work and kept the approaches to disease, including exercise, natural medicine and diet that do work,” Hong said.
Along with heart disease and diabetes, Dr. Thomas Yarema, medical director of the Kauai Center for Holistic Medicine and Research, said asthma is one of the three biggest healthcare concerns in Hawai‘i. The Aloha State has the highest rate of asthma affliction in the United States among adults and children.
In addition to exercises and protocols for healthy living and easy breathing, Hong will teach recipes of dishes that benefit the lungs, the release states.
