HONOLULU — The state Department of Budget and Finance’s Unclaimed Property Program staff will be at the 2006 Kauai County Farm Bureau Fair at Vidinha Stadium to determine if people may have unclaimed property due to them,” a department press release states.
“There is no fee for this service, and interested persons only need to provide their name in order to conduct a search,” the release states.
The Unclaimed Property Program receives and holds abandoned or unclaimed property such as money, bank accounts, certificates of deposit, negotiable instruments, gift certificates, credit balances and insurance refunds that — in most cases — have remained inactive for a period of at least five years.
Officials from the UPP will be on hand on the following dates and times:
• Thursday, Aug. 24, 6 p.m. to midnight;
• Friday, Aug. 25, 6 p.m. to midnight;
• Saturday, Aug. 26, noon to midnight;
• Sunday, Aug. 27, noon to 6 p.m.
Interested parties can also conduct an online search by going to www.unclaimedproperty.hawaii.gov and clicking on “Search for Unclaimed Property,” or by calling the unclaimed property program at 586-1589 to determine if they may have funds or unclaimed property due to them.
