The small private school located atop the Kahili Mountain has now expanded.
“We’ve now gone online,” said Kahilli Adventist School principal Bud Moon. “Basically what we’re doing here is our PE classes and our electives, those typical classes will be taught here at the school. But the ninth through twelfth grade students can take the Bible history, English and Spanish classes through these new online programs.”
The students, however, will still be on campus when taking the courses.
“We will have a teacher watching over them while they’re on the computer to help them,” Moon said. “I believe in this because in my mind it’s the future.”
Griggs University in Maryland partnered with Kahili Adventist School to provide the online and correspondence classes that will be offered to the students when the new school year starts this Monday.
“If the students want to get ahead, they can take the courses at home,” Moon said.
Moon also said he believes using the Internet is a skill that every student needs to know. How it is set up right now is the ninth-graders will get about six hours a week for the computer and the juniors and seniors will get about 12 hours.
Seniors graduating from the Kahili Adventist School will receive a high school diploma with a seal from Griggs University.
