After only a few visits to Kaua‘i since the Ka Loko dam breach, Gov. Linda Lingle will come back for the second time in three weeks next weekend.
After joining in the Hanama‘ulu Town Celebration earlier this month, Lingle returns Friday for the swearing in of Kaua‘i appointees to various state boards and commissions and the launch of Kaua‘i Made, the county Office of Economic Development’s program to promote authentic, high-quality, homemade products.
Friday night the governor will live it up at the Koloa Jodo Mission bon dance. After some much-needed rest, Lingle rides in the Koloa Plantation Days parade Saturday.
• Conferring of Commissions ceremony, Friday, 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., Pu‘uhonua Kaulike Building, 3970 Kaana Street, Lihu‘e. Circuit Court Judge Kathleen Watanabe will administer the oath of office.
• Kaua‘i Made, Friday, 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., ResortQuest Kaua‘i Beach at Makaiwa (formerly Courtyard by Marriott), 4484 Kuhio Highway, Paddle Room, Kapa‘a. Mayor Bryan Baptiste will also be there.
• Koloa Jodo Mission Bon Dance, Friday, 8 p.m., Koloa Jodo Mission, 2480 Waikomo Road, Koloa.
• Koloa Plantation Days Parade, Saturday, 9:45 a.m. to noon, Koloa Elementary School, 3223 Po‘ipu Road, Koloa.
