KALAHEO — Futi Tavana continued to sizzle the twine as Kalaheo wrapped up a 63-52 win over ZZ Team A at the ZZ/Rotary Club of West Kaua‘i Boys 19 Under league Tuesday.
Futi combined with his younger brother Devon Tavana to lead the Kalaheo effort with 37 points. Futi led the win on a 25-point note while Devon chipped in a dozen. Josh Bradbury rounded out the Kalaheo leaderboard with 11 points.
Garret Sakimae netted 24 points in the quick-paced game to lead the ZZ effort followed by Garren Venzon slipping through the inside for 13 marks and Chad Nonaka adding nine points in the effort.
The Kalaheo victory keeps Kalaheo in the lead for the Boys 19U title with just one loss.
Kapa‘a, who clinched their contest 57-32 over Westside B in game one, is in second place overall. Manny Pescador led the Kapa‘a victory with a 10-point showing followed by John Berales and Jin Wu adding eight and seven points, respectively.
Kasey Okihara paced the Westside B effort on a game-high 13 points followed by Hayward Halog adding a dozen marks. Kyle Achuela led the Westside A team to a 46-42 edge over Kalepa in game three. Roldan Villanueva finished with 12 and Clereson Torres added 11 points in that win.
Kaleo Cummings topped the Kalepa scoring on a dozen points followed by Jordan Tottori adding 10 and Travis Stine finishing with nine points.
The 19 Under boys league closes their season tonight with three games on tap at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
Featured on the slate is the league-leading Kalaheo tangling with Kapa‘a tipping off at 7:30 p.m.
