MANA — The Pacific Missile Range Facility will conduct range operations July 8 to July 14, requiring closure of access to Major’s Bay and the Kinikini Special Use Fishing area.
Under PMRF’s new policy, access will be available from the Shenanigan’s parking lot, with surfing limited to the break immediately fronting the base housing area.
No access will be available during those dates from the main parking lot of Majors Bay, or the parking area recently made available for the special use fishing area from Kawaiele Ditch northwards up to the southern-most windsock adjacent to the runway.
The closures are due to the Rim of the Pacific 2006 exercise, known as RIMPAC, scheduled through July 26.
The month-long exercise is held every two years and PMRF plays a key role in the Pacific’s largest international maritime exercise.
