Both the Lihu‘e and West Kaua‘i Bronco all-stars will host the 2006 Hawai‘i Region State Tournament, beginning Friday at the Lihu‘e County Park.
The event runs through the Fourth of July weekend, finishing off at Waimea Canyon Ballpark, from July 2-4.
Lihu‘e is scheduled to host contests on Friday and Saturday.
Teams are divided in two pools, green and white, with the host teams taking part in separate divisions.
Other squads participating in the event include a team from the Big Island and Maui, along with four squads from O‘ahu.
The first game of the tournament starts at 9 a.m., Friday at the Lihu‘e County Park.
Opening ceremonies follow at around 11:30 a.m. The championship game is scheduled for Tuesday, July 4 starting at 10 a.m. at the Waimea Canyon Park.
Kaua‘i is no stranger to hosting the state Bronco tournament. This is the second consecutive year the Garden Isle hosts the event.
An O‘ahu squad won last year’s tournament. The Hawai‘i Region Mustang Tournament is scheduled for June 29 to July 4.
The Hawai‘i Region Pinto Tournament happens on July 7 to July 11 at the Waimanalo Beach Park.
