Senior bowlers from throughout the state assembled at the Lihu‘e Lanes for a two day singles 100 percent handicap tournament on June 12. There were four divisions separated by averages. Awards were given to the top four men and women in each division. Kaua‘i received 21 of the possible 32 possible awards.
The outstanding male/female bowlers were Kaua‘i bowlers Bernie Wise, Cathy Fernandez and Mercy Remata. A koa bowl was donated and personally presented by Mayor Bryan Baptiste.
The six game winners from each division are: (K=Kaua‘i, O=O‘ahu, M=Maui, H=Hilo, KO=Kona).
Masters men (Avg. 169-200): Bernie Wise (K)-1272, Vic Pezario (K)-1261, Nillo Matias (K)-1217 and Paul Miyamoto (K)-1209.
Masters women (Avg. 150-200): Evelyn Lum (K)-1252, Dolly Yaris (K)-1246, Flora Kahaunaele (K)-1206 and Marge Kinney (K)-1191.

Kaua‘i’s Annie Javelina was given special recognition as being the oldest bowler in the tournament at 85 years young.
The tournament was sponsored by the Kaua‘i senior bowlers with the assistance of Marilyn Wong from the Recreation Agency of the Kaua‘i Office of Community Assistance.
