Kaua‘i sophomore Tiffany Ikeda-Simao filled three of the KIF all-star slots, after a banner season, which included two silver and two bronze medals at states.
Ikeda-Simao picked up accolades in the 100, 4×100 relay and 200. The Red Raider girls, who placed third at states, dominated the all-star picks.
Teammate Jamilee Jimenez took four spots on the coveted list (long jump, triple jump, high jump, 4×100 relay).
Also tabbing all-star honors were Waimea’s Cayla Kitabayashi (100 hurdles, 300 hurdles), Kaua‘i’s Chelsea Smith-Wishard (1,500, 800, 3,000, 4×400 relay), Kaua‘i’s Emma Makepa-Foley (4×100 relay), Kaua‘i’s Allison Arakaki (4×100 relay, 4×400 relay), Kaua‘i’s Auika Muragin (400, 4×400 relay), Kaua‘i’s Savannah Rollins (4×400 relay) and Kapa‘a’s Loke Manaku (shot put, discus).
The KIF champion Menehune boys squad filled most of the all-star slots in 2006.
Kenny Estes led Waimea with three selections (100, 200, 4×100 relay).
Teammate Kollin Morikawa earned accolades in the triple jump and 4×100 relay.
Other all-star selections included Kapa‘a’s Trevor Boro (110 hurdles), Waimea’s Nathan Martin (1,500), Waimea’s Bailon Batalion (long jump, 4×100 relay), Waimea’s Layne Fernandez (4×100 relay), Waimea’s Jayrald Watanabe (400), Kapa‘a’s Greg Ragsac (300 hurdles), Kaua‘i’s Frank Speetjens (800), Waimea’s Scott Martin (3,000), Kaua‘i’s Shawn Morimoto, Jesse Slade, Pono Matthews and Andre Renaud for the 4×400 relay, Waimea’s Chris Newcomb (high jump) and Kapa‘a’s Nathaniel Langi (shot put, discus).
KIF track and field all-stars were selected based upon performance at the KIF championship meet.
