Congratulations to all the Kapa‘a High School seniors who celebrated their commencement (the Vault works, Steve Bauer!) Friday…TGI circulation manager Dave Campbell (congrats, Tara!) had tickets for this event, and, of course, Nellie Okamoto was there.
Happy birthday to Lauren Baptiste who not only graduated, but had her birthday on Friday as well. Officer Joe Kaauwai had graduation duty for all those who wondered about Kapule Highway, and it was nice to see SRO Sgt. Dan Miyamoto (no football game Friday), and Jon Takamura.
Fig Mitchell came to congratulate all his students, and freshmen Steven Sanchez, Kelvin Villanueva and Angela Mones (she was one featured as a bike paramedic) did a great job on audio with the help of 10th grader Lauren Esaki. Hats off, too, to Brittney Carvalho and Cassie Mundon, who were wonderful behind the microphones. Both Olena Rubin and Avery Kano came from O‘ahu for the celebration. The big question: Bryn Hashimoto graduated, but where was Annette?
Earlier in the week, Sandi Sterker (53 miles per gallon on her Prius!) stopped by to say how thrilled she was about the county installing pull-ins for the bus (that’s all the orange fencing) at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center. Now, the kids won’t have to wait so close to traffic, she said.
This is the week for both Kaua‘i and Waimea high schools’ graduations, so congratulations in advance to all the Red Raider and Menehune seniors for doing such a great job. Stay safe!
