Karen Matsumoto said they’ll start the Boys 16 Under season Thursday in Kalaheo, and Dennis Onishi and the Piopio Bears will be back in early July with two girls’ 14U teams to play against coaches Bobby Kamakele and Talbert Tacbian. Karen’s folks play in Jeff Venzon’s ZZ Youth Basketball League.
Of course, this is the busy weekend with Aunty Kapu Kinimaka-Alquiza hosting their Polynesian Festival starting Friday…don’t forget, it’s Kapa‘a High School’s graduation, too … Danielle Creamer was wearing her HHSAA girls basketball shirt when she showed up with mom Annette for the Habitat proclamation.
Congratulations to Ed Kawamura for hosting another great home and garden expo over the weekend … Arnold Leong was on hand to check out Bob King of the Echo Carving Team, and Bob took care of his wife’s request to have a rooster carved.
Hats off, too, to Theresa Koki and the county’s team for winning the Great Kaua‘i Weigh Out … she was still walking Monday… Art Umezu was waiting for Roger Corman’s son to arrive, and Beth Tokioka was returning from her lunch break (look for her at the LBL Tournament as well).
Above all, have fun, and stay safe!
