Kaua‘i police continue to investigate the death of a woman whose body was found in a burning car Monday in the Hanapepe Valley.
Officials are awaiting the results of lab tests to determine the cause of death and to confirm her identity after an autopsy was completed yesterday, states a county press release.
The woman’s body was found on the left side of the rear seat. The vehicle was parked on Ko Road in Hanapepe Valley and has since been taken to police headquarters in Lihu‘e, states the release.
Firefighters from the Hanapepe fire station were dispatched Monday morning to put out the fire.
They found the body in the car after the fire was extinguished and called the police department.
Officials are not releasing the name of the woman yet.
