PO‘IPU — 22 shiny buckles and 10 trophy gist knives are up for grabs with the first day in the books at the Kaua‘i Classic team roping championships at CJM Country Stables.
Yesterday’s action began with four events: the open, #15, #13, and #12 contests.
Over 600 teams from all around the country are participating in the annual event.
The United States Team Roping Championship competition continues today at 9 a.m. with another set of events. The Junior Looper Roping also takes place today at 12 noon.
The roping comes to an end Sunday at 9 a.m.
There is no admission charge for the event. A coffee shop will be on hand for early morning refreshments and Rosie’s Lunch Wagon will be serving local style food throughout the day.
CJM Arena is located down Po‘ipu Road, about one mile past the Grand Hyatt Resort.
