Kaua’i’s Chelsea Smith-Wishard tabbed a qualifying time in the 400 meters (1:02.37), but teammate Frank Speetjens missed out on states in the 800 meters (2:07.96) by a grain of sand.
However, KIF athletes will have another shot on Thursday and Friday in the KIF trials and championships at Vidinha Stadium. Both meets should begin at 4 p.m.
