outh surfers from around the island are gearing up for a busy weekend, with both Hawaiian Surfing Federation (H.S.F.), Kaua‘i and National Scholastic Surfing Association (NSSA) Hawai‘i Regionals going off this weekend.
Southside surfer Andrianna Mendivil, who was busy working out at the Kaua‘i Athletic Club on Monday, mentioned that she will miss the H.S.F. contest because of the NSSA Regional action.
The championships will take place on O‘ahu at Kewalos, from March 25-April 2.
Last weekend’s H.S.F. Kaua‘i event was rescheduled for this weekend (March 25-26) at Kealia Beach.
The fourth H.S.F. contest of the year is also the second to last event of the season.
The last competition heads to Po‘ipu at Prince Kuhio’s, from April 22-23.
The State Championships will be held in June on O‘ahu, with the site yet to be announced.
Entry forms for this weekend’s event at Kealia Beach are available at www.hsfkauai.com. The due date for the form is this Friday.
Call the contest line at 338-1952 for more information.
H.S.F. Kaua‘i has been fostering competitive surfing and body boarding at the amateur level for 20 years.
By providing contests open to all ages at locations all around the island, HSF has been a venue for the kids of Kaua‘i to test their surfing skills and have lots of fun.
