Portuguese pride is on display at Tony & Harry’s, a versatile eatery in the heart of Lihu‘e offering pizza, pasta, local cuisine, and much more.
At Tony & Harry’s, owners Derrick and Laurie Medeiros boast of being the “one-stop place to feed your face,” and pride themselves in offering “Portagee portions” (generous servings), they said.
Who are Tony and Harry, you ask?
Antone “Tony” Andrade and Harry Anahori are the grandfathers of the owners, who offer homemade pizzas, burgers, a variety of plate lunches, pasta, sandwiches, desserts, shakes, smoothies, weekly specials, and more.
Located in Lihue Town Center off Kuhio Highway near the Office of Hawaiian Affairs and Kauai Humane Society Thrift Shop, Tony & Harry’s owners offer most plate lunches at around $7 or $8, and large pizzas from $18 to $22.
The owners said they enjoy talking story with customers, and make them feel like family, just like their grandpas did to everyone they came across.
They invite anyone interested to come in and kaukau (eat) and wala‘au (talk story).
They’re open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.
