You may recognize some of the flowers or places photographed by Bill Crane. That’s because the California-based photographer frequently visits Kaua‘i to shoot his favorite tropical art only on Kaua‘i.
“Every shot is from Kaua‘i. Kaua‘i and no other island,” Crane said.
The professional portrait photographer from Pismo Beach doesn’t miss an opportunity to get his shots of his favorite things. This is his way of mixing both business and pleasure.
“I’m just enjoying my vacation,” he said. “Photographing (Kaua‘i) is just adding to the enjoyment of my vacation.” Crane has shown his work at Roy’s in Po‘ipu, and the Po‘ipu Beach Broiler, but tonight, he will be at the Hanapepe Design Studio for a meet-the-artist open house as a part of Hanapepe’s art nights.
The meet-the-artist open house will be today from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
“This’ll be a brand new thing to me,” he said. “I’ve shown my work here before, but (the meet-and-greet) is my first one.” Crane took up photography while still in high school. By the time he was 20 years old, he was running a tintype, old Western photography studio in New Jersey. He later relocated to California where he currently has his portrait studio.
