Waimea senior Chad Thompson wasn’t satisfied with just one KIF Player of the Year honor.
Instead he’ll settle for two awards, as the KIF named “Mighty Mouse,” the season’s top boys soccer player again.
Although the Menehune exited the state tournament in the first, they still managed to take their second straight KIF title.
Mark Kennett earned his second straight KIF Coach of the Year accolade, thanks to another masterful job on the bench.
The 2005-06 KIF Boys Soccer All-Star forwards are Micah Ohlen of Kapa’a, Danny Riggle of Kaua’i, and Thompson.
Ohlen kept Kapa’a in the title chase and so did Riggle for the Red Raiders.
Both players were tough customers near the goal.
Waimea seniors Scott Martin and Kenny Estes earned top midfielder honors, along with Kaua’i senior Agu Garcia.
Martin and Estes helped out Thompson in the scoring department, which led them to the top of the standings. In the meantime, Garcia’s whacky style of play, gave fans and opponents the fits, but in the end, he let his play do the talking.
The all-star defenders are Kapa’a’s Terrence Cuyo, Kaua’i’s Charlie Kato and Ryan Nagaoka, and Waimea’s Kollin Morikawa.
Kato and Nagaoka gave Kaua’i’s opponents a tough time near the scoring zone.
Morikawa, despite his colorful hair, managed to turn in another stellar defensive performance for the Menehune.
Cuyo was an unsung hero for the Warriors, who battled until the very end.
Kaua’i senior Jeremy Victor picked up all-star goalie honors, with his great instincts helping him out of tough situations.
Kapa’a sophomore Chance Bukoski earned utility honors for his great all-around efforts throughout the season.
