The Lihue Parish Hall will serve as the battleground for the upcoming local breakdancers and freestylers for the latest Kauai Underground Artists (KUGA) event, “The Battle Ground,” tomorrow at 6 p.m.
The breakdancing battle will be judged on style, use of fundamental breakdancing moves and choreographed routines. Freestyle rap battle, in which rappers make up their lyrics on the spot, will be judged on flow, use of word play, cleverness and a good finish.
The event is free for all ages, but there is a $10 fee for those entering the contests.
In addition to the battles, there will be performances by local rappers, dancers and poets, a raffle drawing, a mini art show, an open mic and a live art demonstration.
The event is sponsored by the Garden Island Arts Council, Smart magazine, Off Da Hook Records, Meyvn Skate shop, Johnson and Brothers and Red Bull.
