KEKAHA — The Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) enforcement officers will be conducting live fire range exercises from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., today and Thursday at the Kekaha National Guard Firing Range in Mana, according to a press release.
“The exercises are conducted as part of our normal enforcement staff training,” said Peter Young, DLNR chairperson, in the release.
The public is asked to refrain from entering the range area during the hours of the exercise.
For safety purposes, orange cones will be posted parallel to both sides of the range and a red flag will be raised from the highest point on the range.
Although normal live fire precautions will be enforced, the public is directed to avoid the area on the exercise dates.
Kekaha firing range is located approximately one mile west of Akialoa and Kaumuali‘i Highway, at Kekaha.
The range has been in use for over 40 years, and is reserved for use by state law enforcement agencies and the Garden Island Pistol Club. It is maintained by the State National Guard.
