The Nawiliwili Yacht Club’s 2006 race season opened Saturday, Feb. 4.
A total of nine boats participated in the regatta which covered 7 nautical miles.
Northeasterly winds blew between 10 and 20 knots over the flat and fast ocean.
After the race the sailors and spectators gathered at the clubhouse for a fun time of reliving the excitement.
The results are based on corrected time. Open Class: 1) Malia – 1:11:31, 2) Papa Au – 1:12:17 and 3) Malihini – 1:12:38. Club Class: 1) Coyote – 1:02:07, 2) O-Zone – 1:10:24 and 3) Whitecap – 1:13:38.
Come join the race committee at the harbor jetty to view the Ron Sailor Memorial Series which begins Thursday.
First flag for the six race series which runs consecutive Thursdays is 5 p.m.
The Saturday offshore race series opens Feb. 18. Come join the festivities either at the 10 a.m. start or at the clubhouse following the race.
NYC hot dogs and beverages will be available for a small donation.
