Everything is coming down to the wire.
Beth Cuizon gets to try her hand at solo coaching tonight for the Kaulupono Girls.
She did a great job on Monday at the county’s 12-and-under girls games! Greg Meyers’ Island School girls have come a long way from when they were in the 14-and-under league, and coach Frannie Constantino finally made it to a game since her husband is now home from Iraq! She came to watch the Kaulupono Girls play. Yukie De Silva and her ‘ohana were at Saturday’s boys games at Kaua‘i High School gym. One thing good about games at Kaua‘i High is that you can shuttle between the basketball game and the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation qualifying swim meet. Don’t forget, this Saturday is the KIF Championships! Was nice talking soccer with “coach” Sean Magoun from Island School, and since they hosted the meet, Doc Michael Woltmon was doing microphone duty. Ross Shimabukuro was at the swim meet, and Manny Henriques was at the KIF paddling regatta.
Hats off to Dan Spriggs (he’ll be at the American Culinary Federation brunch coming up on Feb. 19) and Kimberly Gladysz for putting on the West African dance program at Kapa‘a Elementary as part of Black History Month. This was their first performance at the school level, and Sky Van Horn, Melody Harringer, Rachel Kattlove and Leora Brown were really good with the students.
Of course, we cannot forget Susan Pittman and her Souper Sunday event. Even Charlie King stopped off for his bowl before the kickoff.
