Hats off to Brenda Sameshima of Kukui‘Ula Development Co. for doing such a great job with their roadway dedication program! And, if your name is Brenda, you have no trouble convincing the other Brenda (Miyashiro) to do the opening pule.
Hats off to Brenda Sameshima of Kukui‘Ula Development Co. for doing such a great job with their roadway dedication program! And, if your name is Brenda, you have no trouble convincing the other Brenda (Miyashiro) to do the opening pule. Last time I heard her do the chant was behind the piano at the Kaua‘i Marriott Resort & Beach Club Grand Ballroom. It was definitely chicken-skin.
The good thing about these events is all the people you run into, like Raymond Duarte, who was doing his bass duty between checking Brenda Miyashiro’s microphone. Russ Talvi was on hand for the catering, as was Michael Higley. They even had something that looked like it came out of the Food Network’s “Iron Chef” competition.
Matt Taba missed the triple-overtime hoops game between Waimea and Kaua‘i, but is already checking his calendar for next Tuesday at the Raiderdome.
Suzette Kane was definitely not going to miss this event, and Shelley Gerardo was there, as was Brenda Jose (that’s why they didn’t answer the phone Monday).
But behind all the dignitaries are the people who make it all happen. Brenda Sameshima had Clarissa Sandal, Ginny Agena, Lesley Castillo (I still have this Agosto thing in my head), Trinette Kaui, Suzette, and Nani Sadora holding shovels for huli ka lepo.
The best part was getting to meet Sweety Nelson, who made sure Ron Kosen of PhotoSpectrum wouldn’t beat the Camper to the punch.
Congratulations, Dick Holtzman. You have a fantastic crew!
