Ha’aheo stalemates Kamakazes

Michaela Rapozo and Mia Cabulisan each finished with four points as Ha’aheo and the Lihu’e Kamakazes battled to a 14-14 tie following one overtime period Saturday at the Kaua’i High Gym. Makana Fujimoto finished with six points to lead the Kamakazes in the county’s 12 and Under girls basketball league. Kaira Kupihea continued to pace Wailua, finishing with 15 points in their 23-8 showing over Island School in the finale. Hayley Uliana topped the Island School effort with four points.
Gee Unit A soars in 12U boys hoops
Keane-Shane Agoot finished with 17 points and Kanoa Nartatex added 13 points as the Eastside rolled over the Kaua’i Fire Raiders, 59-17 in the county’s 12 and Under boys basketball games, Saturday in Kalaheo.
Isaac Ramboyan finished with six and Aeron Inouye added four points in the Raiders’ efforts. Kahale Fagarang finished with a game-high 13 points and Kaimana Jaquias added seven marks as Hanama’ulu topped the Westside Hornets, 34-28.
Vinda Carineo and Cliffton Callejo paced the Hornets’ efforts with 12 and 10 points respectively. In an earlier game, the Gee Unit A soared over the Gee Unit B, 79-19. No scorers were available for that game.
Looking for left-handed clubs
Left-handed golfers are surely hard to find around the island and a junior golfer, who’s a lefty, is looking some left-handed golf clubs. Call 332-8091 if you have clubs you’d like to furnish.
Pu’uwai Canoe Club women’s practices
Pu’uwai six man outrigger canoe club will begin women’s practice Feb. 1 at 5:30 p.m. at the Wailua River. Men’s practice will begin Feb. 2 at 5:30 p.m.
The club is located on the Kapa’a side of the Wailua River on the mauka side of the highway.

Shamrock heading to Kaua’i in March
Noted mixed martial arts fighter (MMA) Frank Shamrock will be coming down to attend the Garden Island Cage match #3 on March 26.
He will be doing autographs at the weighins the day before the event, along with Jens Pulver and Robbie Lawler, and a couple other celebrity MMA fighters yet to be announced. KIF weekend sports
Soccer, swimming, and canoe paddling continue tomorrow in the KIF sports season. Kaua’i battles Kapa’a in soccer at Hanapepe Stadium, swimming takes place at Kaua’i High School’s pool, and canoe paddling begins its first regatta at Wailua River, beginning at 10 a.m.
