Serena Kehaulani Basa Manuel of Koloa and Las Vegas, Nev., died Dec. 16, 2005, in Las Vegas at the age of 43.
Born March 5, 1962, she is survived by her husband: Shawn Manuel; one son: Jordan Basa-Franco; two daughters: Tayne Basa-Franco and Tessa Basa-Franco; mother: Dollyan Basa; four sisters: Valerie (Paul) Peters, Darlene Pereira, Allison (Ernest) Vasquez and Janell Basa; two grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 18, at Borthwick Mortuary Chapel in Koloa, where memorial services will be celebrated at 10 a.m.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.
Michael Anthony-Aquias Harper
Michael Anthony-Aquias Harper (also known as “Aku”) of Virginia Beach, and formerly of Hanama’ulu, died Jan. 3, 2006, at the age 26.
Born July 11, 1979, to Grady Harper and Gloria Tanner in Honolulu, he was an active person who loved dirt biking, weight-lifting, and fishing. Known for his bright spirit and joking attitude, he was considered a loving fiancé, father, son, brother and friend.
He is survived by his fiancé of 10 years Leann Nobriga, his son Shiloh, daughter Kylee, his stepson Kainalu, both parents, his sister Erica Tanner, grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Hipolito Aquias, Mr. and Mrs. R.L. Harper Sr., several aunts and uncles, numerous cousins and special friends.
The celebration of his life was held Jan. 9, at Smith and Williams Funeral Home. A visitation was held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Virginia Beach Municipal Employees Credit Union in Shiloh and Kylee Harper’s name. Alexandro Achuara
Alexandro “Condro” Achuara of Kekaha died at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital on Jan. 9, 2006, at the age of 78. Born in Pulehu, Maui on March 10, 1927, he was a welder and heavy equipment operator with Sandia at Barking Sands.
Preceded in death by wife, Katherine and parents, Petrodis & Francisco Ordinario Sr., he is survived by four sons, Archie (Lisa) Achuara of Waimea, Douglas (Wilma) Achuara of Hanapepe, Bruce (Sharri) Achuara of Hanapepe and Paul Kealoha of Maui; daughter, TerryAnn (Randy) Harrington of Quincy, Wash.; two sisters, Emilliana Brasel of California, and Rosa-line May of Kekaha.
Services were private. Arrangements were handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
