The KIF champion Red Raider softball squad finished off their spectacular season with two wins (11-8 and 16-9) over Waimea, yesterday at Waimea Canyon Field.
In the first game, Wailana Borrero picked up the win, with Cassie Koerte suffering the defeat.
At the plate, the Red Raiders were led by Jessica Iwata (2-4), Darcie Allianic (2-4), Borrero (1-3), Randi Oketani (1-3), Kirchner (2-5), Sam Koga (2-3), and Cherisse Simeona (1-3).
Chasen Sherman (2-5), Moani Durant (1-3), Koerte (1-4), Kanoe Carveiro (3-3), and Lani Kanahele (2-3) led the way for Waimea.
Ku’ulei Manintin got the second game win and Syanne Sagawa took the loss.
Koga’s 3-run homerun provided the biggest fireworks for the Red Raiders, as Borrero (4-5) and Oketani (2-3) chipped in with stellar performances.
Durant (3-4), Tatum Gonsalves (2-4), and Kanahele (2-4) paced Waimea in the second contest.
Kaua’i now prepares for the Division II State Softball Championships on O’ahu from Feb. 1-4.
