Patrick Apilado
Patrick Woon Yong Apilado of Kekaha died on Dec. 31, 2005, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 60.
Born in Waimea on Nov. 28, 1945, he was the manager of the Big Save supermarkets.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Apilado of Kekaha; five sons; Patrick (Amarita) Apilado Jr., Paul Apilado, Michael Apilado, Thomas (Analyn) Apilado, Timothy Apilado, two stepdaughters: Peggy (Zeal) Castillo and Alice Angala, two stepsons: Vance Kalani Simao and John Oliver; mother, Soon Ne Apilado, three sisters; Judy Manuel, Marilyn Laker and Suzanne Novack; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation with the family will be on Saturday, Jan. 7, from 3 p.m. with services beginning at 4 p.m. at Waimea Baptist Church.
Arrangements are being handled by Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.
Arlene M. Waiamau
Arlene M. Waiamau of Lihu’e died on Jan. 1, 2006, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 77.
Born on Jan. 20, 1928, in Makaweli, she was a retired schoolteacher.
She is survived by sons Douglas (Wanda) Waiamau of Lihu’e, Alton (Cathy) Waiamau of Honolulu, daughter, Thalia (Kevin) Gonzalves of Lihu’e; daughter-in-law, Kalena Waiamau of Honolulu, sisters: Hanako Duarte of Kalaheo, Doris (Oskar) Moe of San Francisco, Irene Bretzel of Seattle, Fay Tuley of Honolulu, Ruth Arashiro of Honolulu, brother-in-law, John Lewis of Roseville, nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Friends may join in a celebration of her life with visitation at 8:30 a.m. and services beginning at 10 a.m. at Lihue Christian Church on Saturday, Jan. 7.
Casual attire is suggested. The family requests leis of aloha in lieu of flowers or wreaths.
Arrangements are being handled by Kauai Memorial Gardens.
Peter Souza
Peter Souza of Kapa’a, died Jan. 2, 2006, at his home at the age of 84.
Born Nov. 3, 1921, on Kaua’i, he was a heavy equipment operator.
He is survived by his wife: Helen M. Souza of Kapa’a; son: Peter (Claudine) Souza, Jr. of Kona; two grandsons: Jacob Masao of Kona and Elsworths Huli’ee-Souza of Kona; two brothers: Edward (Carmen) Souza of Los Angeles and Abel (Hoku) Souza of Kapa’a; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family from 8:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 14, at St.Catherine Church in Kapa’a, where Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. by Father Al. Burial to follow at St. Catherine Church cemetery.
