The first round KIF champion Red Raider softball squad won’t be playing today, but they’ll surely be in the stands, taking in the second round opener, with Kapa’a battling Waimea at Waimea Canyon Field, starting at 5:30 p.m.
Kapa’a is still searching for its first win of the season and Waimea on the other hand, is trying to begin the second round with a bang.
After leading the league throughout the first round, the Menehune fell victim to a red-hot Kaua’i team, who ran off four straight victories to end the first round as champions.
Waimea ended the first session with a 4-2 record and Kapa’a finished 0-6, while Kaua’i tallied a 5-1 showing.
KIF softball continues on Friday in a doubleheader between Kapa’a and Kaua’i.
The games will be held at Kapa’a Ballpark, with the first of the two contests, beginning at 10 a.m.
KIF soccer kicks into high gear tomorrow
The junior varsity teams for Kapa’a and Kaua’i go head to head tomorrow at Hanapepe Stadium, starting at 5 p.m.
Then the varsity squads for the Red Raiders and Warriors, square off on Thursday at 5 p.m.
The Kapa’a girls are in first place, followed by Kaua’i and Waimea. Meanwhile, Kapa’a and Waimea are tied at the top in the boys’ standings.
