Not much has changed from last season in KIF soccer. Last year’s title holders, the Kapa’a girls (2-0) and the Waimea boys (2-0) are in the driver’s seat once again.
And the same players are leading their respective teams to the top, with Chad “Mighty Mouse” Thompson, Kenny “The Equilizer” Estes, Scott “My Favorite” Martin, and Kollin “Farrell” Morikawa pacing the Menehune boys.
Meanwhile, the Warrior girls are led by last year’s KIF player of the year, Amniesty Ragsac, Brittney Carvalho, Ka’ala Leong, and Maegan Pablo, their tough sophomore goalie. Waimea’s netminder, Ansen Acain, who is in his first starting role with the off-color jersey, is stingy and dangerous.
Today, the Menehune will battle the Warriors at Hanapepe Stadium, in varsity-only matches, which start at 5 p.m.
Waimea’s girls squad is still searching for that elusive first win of the season, but the Warrior boys could tie the Menehune at the top of the standings with a victory.
There will be no KIF soccer this Saturday. However, the matches will start up again on Dec. 28-29.
